    Heather has a passion for mental health care and her mission and drive is to normalise and modernise mental health care. She knew early on she wanted to focus on mental health occupational therapy so she gained experience in acute, subacute, rehabilitation, community, forensic, clinical liaison and intensive case management mental health roles. When working in the public sector, Heather was an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner which means she has an in depth understanding of the Mental Health Act 2016. Working in mental health, and the disability sectors, also means Heather is experienced in working with adults with intellectual impairments or ASD. Heather works with adults (and 17 year olds transitioning to adult services) who have mental health and/or psychosocial disabilities. Heather uses a trauma informed and recovery approach, and also uses techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive remediation, exposure and response prevention, while goal setting with clients to focus on what’s important to them.

    Heather’s constitution is 20% water/ 80% iced mochas. She loves podcasts, reading and her cat!

    Jess is an occupational therapist who is passionate about working in mental health. From early on, she knew that sitting behind a desk in an office wasn’t for her. As a mental health specific OT, Jess supports people through a range of occupations from grocery shopping and self- care to fishing and soccer. Jess has experience in acute mental health, transitional housing teams, and mental health case management, with specific experience in older persons mental health. She also has experience working with adults with ASD and PDA (pathological demand avoidance). Jess uses a trauma informed approach and incorporates sensory modulation in her sessions to support clients’ emotional regulation and functional capacity. Jess is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) informed and undertaking additional training to work towards DBT credentials.

    Running for Jess is the best way to clear her mind, along with being a pilates lover. Food is the way to her heart and a good cup of coffee is how she likes to start her day.

    Kaitlin is passionate about mental health and advocacy, so a mental health OT was the perfect role for her. Kaitlin challenges herself to think big, challenge assumptions and strive for great outcomes. Kaitlin has experience supporting clients with severe and persistent mental illness in the community in a case management role and also specific experience supporting clients who may experience psychosis as part of their mental health journey. She has in depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2016 and primary health care pathways. Kaitlin also has specific skills and interest in supporting adults with ASD to reach their functional goals. In her clinical practice, Kaitlin works with a trauma informed approach and incorporates sensory modulation and functional approaches to support people to engage in everyday tasks such as shopping, maintaining housing, art, parenting and relationships. Kaitlin’s ingenuity also extends beyond her clinical work - she has taken a lead role in managing Be Well OTs projects to support the broader mental health community.

    Outside of work, she prioritises exercise and being outdoors; you’ll see her at fun runs, marathons and fitness challenges.

    Clare is a mental health occupational therapist who works with a compassionate, collaborative approach and values working with individuals and their support teams. Clare strives to focus on an individual’s recovery and in helping them to navigate and overcome challenges and build their support networks. Clare has completed further training in Cognitive Rehabilitation and is interested in developing ways to support individuals with cognitive difficulties to maintain valued roles and activities.

    Outside of work, you’ll find Clare spending time outdoors in nature, mountain bike riding, bush walking and spending time with her puppy.

    Mel is enthusiastic about the promotion of health and well-being through occupation (doing). While studying for her degree in occupational therapy, Mel worked as a support worker and an OT assistant in mental health settings, making her transition into OT practise as smooth as possible. Mel has experience working with adults with Intellectual Impairments, Autism, Anxiety, and Psychosis. She has always had a keen interest in working with individuals with mental health challenges and loves supporting her clients with their goals. Mel has a special interest to upskill in Personality Disorders and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

    Outside the office, she immerses herself into futsal, going for walks and gaming. Away from this, she cares for her beloved house plants and thoroughly enjoys kiwi fruit.

    Bridie has worked in the realm of community, private and NDIS services over the past 9 years with the last 5 years being dedicated to mental health and psychosocial disabilities. She has a broad range of experience working with many different diagnoses and comorbidities as she strives to practice with a holistic, trauma informed therapeutic approach. Bridie has recently become CBT-I (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in Insomnia) informed and is pursuing further training in Art Therapy.

    Bridie loves to start her days with an early morning walk with her rescue greyhound, Luna and a coffee. A couple of ways Bridie takes care of herself mentally is going to the gym and doing mindfulness exercises.

  • Allied Health Assistant

    Bria is our Allied Health Assistant at Be Well OT. With a background in pharmacy, Bria realised her passion was in mental health in more of a hands on role. With this she is currently undertaking her honours in psychology. As an Allied Health Assistant, Bria loves building strong relationships with clients and helping them achieve goals including; independently using public transport or cooking their favourite meals. Her creativity shines through in the personalised resources that she develops for each client.

    She’s a fierce advocate for the environment and ensures Be Well OT place their batteries in the correct bins! She is also a food enthusiast, and our dedicated nap aficionado.

  • Clinical Liaison Officer/ Marketing

    Gabby is our administrative and marketing assistant extraordinaire. She is currently undertaking a double degree in Business Management and Arts at the University of Queensland, majoring in Marketing and boy, are we grateful for that! Gabby is head of socials and all things marketing for Be Well OT, so keep an eye on her antics over on Instagram. In her time at Be Well OT, Gabby has become an advocate for mental health, using the Be Well OT Instagram as a platform for breaking the stigma and bringing awareness.

    When she isn’t working, studying or talking our ears off in the office, she enjoys watching sports, having a beverage and hanging out with friends.

    Alisha is Be Well OT's newest recruit and boy are we stoked to have her! with 7 years experience under her belt in mental health, she comes with a wealth of knowledge. Alisha has previously worked in within government, community and inpatient mental health, finding value in working with clients to achieve her most optimal health and wellbeing.

    Alisha is our itchy feet specialist with many countries and travels under her belt and no plans to slow down on ticking countries off her bucket list. If she isn't travelling, you'll find her by the beach with her doggo.

  • Clinicial Liaison Officer

    Lana is your first port of call when it comes to Be Well OT and she is quite possibly the friendliest person you may ever speak to! Lana is our leading clinical support officer, handling all things admin, liaison and bookings. She has endeavoured to support and assist others from a young age with exploration of education through Justice, OT and Midwifery. However, Lana is currently finding this passion through the work that she does at Be Well OT. Lana is passionate about mental health and like Be Well’s values, Lana wants to support those with their mental health and well-being and empower them to live at their fullest capacity.

    When Lana is not busy carrying the team, Lana practices what she preaches engaging in mindfulness activities such as meditating, yoga and hiking. She also loves to spend time with her cat and hosts BBQ nights with her mates.
